Have only 10 or 15 minutes?
by Lisa Carroll
Hello!
If you are like me, sometimes life gets a little crazy and finding the time to scrap an entire page seems impossible. After a few months of this, you realize you are getting further and further behind and then you really get discouraged. Sound familiar? Well, when I find myself falling into this pattern I remind myself that there are tasks that can be done in 10 or 15 minutes to get organized and make things easier when I do find more time to complete a layout or two. Here are some ideas:
- Upload pictures off your camera
- Review photos on your hard drive and do one of the following: Delete the bad ones or the duplicates, tag them (by person, occasion, “to be scrapped”, favorites, etc.), Crop them and make small edit, Use them to make a list of layouts you want to do
- Jot down a story you want to tell—the sooner you write down a story the easier it is to journal later. You can use a blog, a word document, or even a notebook.
- Create a sketch
- Make a layout to-do list—this is something I am planning to do soon. This has been a busy year for us with the move and I have lost count of all the stories I need to tell, and flipping through pictures over and over again is just not working for me.
- Find pictures you want to scrap and make them shine in Photoshop
- Upload pictures to a photo sharing/printing site—I use Shutterfly to print and share my photos. I try to do this at least monthly so it doesn’t get overwhelming.
- Tag your digital supplies. There are lots of options out there including PSE and AcdSee.
- Peruse different galleries for inspiration: ScrapArtist, My Scrapbook Art, DigiShopTalk, log your memory and Get it Scrapped are just a few!
- Pick up a few great templates—then when you have about 30 minutes, you can open a template, drop in some pictures and journaling, embellish and you are done!
So as you can see, there are lots of small tasks that can be done in 10 or 15 minutes that will make life easier once you do have time to scrap. And who doesn’t have 10 or 15 minutes a day to devote to our favorite hobby, right?
If you have any other quick organizing tips, I would love to hear them!
